Also - half my optional modules next year shall be computer science. it's official, I'm an archaeologeek.

09:40 pm //transcript starts. Hey, guys! This (insert cash register noise) is the sound of a gprs modem. This (insert full stereo recording of tienanmen square riot, sped up such that it lasts 3 seconds) is the sound of a functioning roaming telephone, thanks to this (insert dancing girls and wolf-whistles) man - tyr_arcana. All is well here, miss people. miss people much. Life is good, fieldwalking is strenuous yet satisfying. The landscape here is a mixture of the hideously ugly (the village) and the breathtakingly beautiful (everything else). $$$ per minute prohibits me from checking my friends page, or indeed setting up an rss feed, so email me if the world falls down - yakherd@gmail.com. About it for today... bye, dudes!

June 17th, 2005
10:09 am Fuck. ok. newsflash - for some reason, my phone does not have roaming enabled, and various attempts to get it enabled have failed. so. no email contact - but i shall be available, voice call and text - on 00306948707627.

11:43 pm - "No, I'll drive!" "Other left." "That was me, you bastard!" This has been a good few days.
So - I've been looking at apartments, which kinda rocks cuz there are some which look great.
Then, ring syl to discuss them with her - anyone who i haven't bored with this should be informed that we are moving in together, oh yes! Then get informed that she shall be brightening this island with her presence - oh yes indeed! from monday.... hee!
yeah. Then, once have got over fit of delirious glee, had a game of halo with tyr_arcana, which turned into a completing-halo-on-heroic-in-one-sitting-over-the-course-of-eleven-hoursathon. which was extremely cool.
slept for three hours, come home (in the meantime going to the orange shop and getting fifty quid for a phone which didn't cost me a penny) and start looking at property guides again... watch a pretty cool stand up comedy program with mother, Dylan Moran - if you don't know him, google him - which had us in helpless fits of giggles for quite some time.
turns out gavverwok is coming down to visit on tuesday, to GM for teh syl and I..... ORSM.
then, I get told I look like spike. yes, that spike. not milligan.
not bad, in all...

11:48 pm - Tales of the smoking gnu. Been learning pascal. had to reconfigure a lot of rather basic files in unix to get gnu pascal compiler to compile pascal. The gnu is now tamed.
therefore, my mind is working in (rather elementary) code.
Earlier this week, as many already know, I showed the innovation and insight to be hit by a black cab. Fucker ran a red light while I was running for a train, and I managed to vault the bonnet without getting (much) hurt, so neither of us stopped as my arm didn't start whinging until a couple of minutes later. Dented his bonnet though! *smug*
Attended a revision session that was (probably) more useful than not attending it would have been. Talked about roleplaying a lot,... more or less decided on my options for next year.
so: life goes on, as is its prerogative. things are still tracing that rising arc that denotes this particular year, and I find myself waiting for them to crash...
but I shan't hold my breath.
speaking of which, saxophone has been in a fair bit of use recently, and I am starting to once again feel good about my affinity for the thing.
yeah.
Got onto my dig of choice, which means Antikythera in the Aegean between 4 june and 16 july, I believe. exams on the 6th and 11th may.
feel free to propose any arrangements around this date.
Plus: friday 6th may. sin city at the ballroom. celebrating birthday of a friend (or two, depending on whether lios_alfar attends.

11:47 am - Springtime in Paris (da dee da dumm) I tell a story of arms, and of a man....
hang on, no I don't.
Since, when? since last wednesday, I think... yes. I have been in France with Teh Syl.
Events have included, in no particular order: (and apologies for any repetition, for those who are regular readers of acid_lag...)
Beer, of course.
Les puces de Clignancourt, goggles (yay! goggles!) mice, some lady on something interesting talking to syl, giving her the key to happiness (a yale key attached to a paperclip in a baggie), the computer shop of god, run by an enormous (incomprehensible) african.
Exuberance, and a houseparty. and learning how much better I can understand french than I can speak it. rolling a thin cigarette, being criticised for doing so and being understood to explain that "it's a rabbit". hat being passed around (slut hat!), inflatable woman with too many functioning orifices.
sitting around watching Stuff together, at parents' place. Gangs of NY, Phone booth, smallville (yay!), naruto, life less ordinary.
Cool food: homemade pasta from the House of the Pasta God. (no, really.), sticky rice that (gasp) turned out well....
Sitting in the black dog, over a pitcher of Murphy's, just talking and feeling a way no words will ever describe...
many metro and RER journeys, many...
a possesed dishwasher
playing with hardware and OSs. learning to operate a graphics program neither I or syl understand, in french. oh yes.
sitting in a park, on the site of the old Citröen factory, talking about things that make no sense and just enjoying the day.
Many more things, most of which wouldn't translate into print.
so yeah. London dudes, see you later this week, oxford dudes, see you soon enough, Syl, see you after exams and everybody else:
